Aright i'm debating on whether to put in 4:10 gears on my rear dana 60 axle on my 1994 f150 300 i6, the reason why is because i'm getting a 4" lift and 33"s and i still want to be able to have pick up, to be able to spin my tire's in mud, and have more low end torque.
I've had a bunch of mixed responses saying i would get horrible gas mileage all the way to it will do wonders for your mpg with 33's.
i've also been told by people, that for 33's you want 4:10's, because it gives torque and stays around the same mpg, if you're getting 35's then you want 4:56's
Is there somebody who's actually done this to there truck, or knows a friend?
I have had 33's and 4.10's. I wouldn't want to gear it any higher than that. I'm back to stock size tires with the same 4.10's and it's feels much better when I'm towing.
I couldn't say with the engine you have. I do know that my 96 F250 with the 300 and a 5 speed would only get about 15-16mpg. I see others claiming 22+, but I have never seen that with my own.
