I was wanting some suggestion and input on a gear change. Here is my setup I have a modified 302 which hits the power range about 2500-4500. Then I have the M50D manual with the .80 OD
I cant decide with 4.10 or 4.30 to turn the 31 rubber. Here are the rpm calc I came up with in OD
With 4.10 at 65 2341rpm at 70 2521
With 4.30 at 65 2455rpm at 70 2644
Does anybody have a setup close to this and tell me both your milage and power. I'm looking at mild towing in OD with mainly city driving with some interstate with at the most of 80mph.
Running 4.30s & 31s will basically eliminate the OD function and give you performance similar to the NP-435 with its granny 1st and no OD. I have 32s now and I'm temporarily running 3.55s while waiting for my 3.08 axle to be rebuilt. A friend is running a '93 5.0L with M5OD & 3.55s on 33s and loves it.
