Flamethrowers?

OK. I know this sounds a little crazy but I want to put the flamethrowers on my exhaust. I am about to put a new exhaust system on my truck and it wont have catalytic converters on it. The truck i have is a 1982 F-100. It is gonna have a holly 4 barrel on it so i know that the flamethrowers can be put on. I have a general idea of how to do it but i would like some instructions on how to do it if anyone had any. Thanks

Flamethrowers?

I recommend propane-tailpipe injection. I will not get too specific however. Some things you must remember: 1) Keep the propane bottle in the BED of the truck. 2) angle the injection nozzle toward the back of the truck. 3) add sparkplug "downwind" of the injector
I guess you could say that maybe I've heard that i guess you could use a motorcycle ignition(coil, switch, etc.) and that also spark plugs fit nicely into an O2 sensor bung. But thats all hearsay, I can't cofirm/deny where or even if I ever heard it all!!!

Flamethrowers?

Uhhh

I actually havent ever heard of doing it that way. What I heard was that you put two spark plugs in the tail pipe and run some wires to the battery with a switch. Push the switch and it ignites the gas coming out of the tail pipe. Problem is i dont know how to do all that and was wondering exactely how to do it. Is there a certain size tail pipe i have to have too?

Flamethrowers?

Ok. This has come up several times. A few weeks ago I decided to make one to see what will and won't work. First, some facts.

A 12v battery WILL NOT MAKE A SPARK PLUG SPARK by itself.
You MUST have a coil.
You MUST have a condenser.
You MUST have a normally open relay.
You SHOULD use a momentary push-button switch to avoid leaving it on.
You SHOULD have a WOT switch to ensure good exhaust flow to prevent the flames from going back up the exhaust.
You MIGHT need a manual choke to increase fuel flow.

The coil will jump the voltage up to the required amount for the plug to fire. The condenser will charge and discharge the electrical current instantaneously (see How condensers work at www.howstuffworks.com). The relay, when wired correctly, will provide the pulsing of current required by the plug.(Spark plugs spark when power is allpied and removed, not just applied). The WOT (wide open throttle) switch is a push-button switch that is connected to the carb and activated at WOT. The manual choke will help put more unburnt fuel into the exhaust system.

Now, I have not yet mounted this device in my exhaust yet, but I have dual coils and dual plugs and they do generate a constant hot spark when the button is pushed.

See pix and diagrams here

I am mere relaying my findings and NOT suggesting anyone do this. If you get blowed up, don't come cryin' to me.<hehe>
