I could really use some help here. The door ajar light stays on the dash board all the time, as do the dome light and the rear roof light. This problem started intermittently a few weeks ago, but is on permanently now
I have checked all the switches, and believe them to be OK
When I slam the drivers door, the light flickers on the dash, but it still stays on. Also, when I depress the drivers door switch by hand, the "door open" bell stops, but the light remains on.
A few questions
1. Where is the switch that indicates that the rear hatch door is closed?
2.How do I troubleshoot this annoying problem.
You could troubleshoot this by taking one switch out of the circuit at a time. Then, you substitute another switch (not necessarily another door switch)across the same wires that the switch does, or just short/open across the same wires at the switch connector without a switch, and see if the lights behave in the expected manner.
The door switches are built into the latches. You can unscrew the latch off the bottom of the hatch, but I don't think you'll be able to get at the plug connection without taking off the interior panel. I've got a similar problem - but it only happens when I drive around with the front windows open. In my case it seems to be an air pressure balance thing. I will have to tackle this as the weather here starts to warm up.
This trick may help you troubleshoot. With the doors open, you can manually put the latches in a closed position, thereby closing the "ajar" switch. On the door, in the door latch, (the outward swinging part of the door that is not exposed when the door is shut) look for the two quarter-moon metal pieces that approximately mirror each other. With a strong thumb or a screwdriver, you can take each piece and push it into its closed position. When you move the piece to the closed position, it will make the familiar "click" that you know and love. With both pieces rotated, you will see how they grab the doorjam to hold tight. Now, with the door still open, you can release them normally with the door handle. It's interesting to watch. This latch is on all four doors. Don't forget the tailgate! If one of those latches is not closing properly, you should be able to see it now.
I use this trick often when I want to leave a door open for a long time without draining the battery. Don't forget to open the latch before you slam the door shut! It's not a pleasant feeling.
I've had alot of trouble with the rear doors on my van so I cut all the switches fo the rear doors out and made it so I had to turn the dome light on manually. Or when the front doods open.

I had the same problem ,finally found that the sliding door had become dented it slightly right where the light switch hit.
Had to stick a penny on the door (used a bandaid) to build it up enough to fully depress the light switch. Problem was first noticed when we where driving with the windows open, air pressure increase pushed the door out enough to put light on. Penny worked so well I forgot it was there untill I read this, must be 3 years now. Thanks for reminding me I will now have to take door panel off and fix it right.
