Ive got a small diesel leak from a metal pipe on the passenger side front of engine just under the front of the head, i cant tell where iy comes from, it just an open pipe ?? also what about this in-line trans filter, its leaking and i cant seem to find one, was this added on my truck ? 01 F250 7.3, im new to diesel so any help is appreciated
Fuel bowl drain o rings seem to be the diesel leak and the trans filter was probly installed after a rebuild or if the dealer replaces it. How many miles are on it? You could always upgrade your filter to a Baldwin spin on. There are a few write ups on. Someone will fix you up with the link!!
Welcome to FTE. Sounds like your fuel bowl drain valve is leaking. Fairly common issue as they get old. You can buy new o-rings here Replacement O-rings for Ford Diesel Engines
The link has instructions on how to change them yourself. For the filter, search for Magnafine. Most parts stores can order one for you.
Thanks to riff diesel for the intake mod to the new to me f250 cc lb . it worked great and was delivered when promised, thanks for the great service, whick is hard to find these days.
The truck has right at 200k on it I just bought it a couple weeks ago, is a external trans filter necessary ? and how hard are these o-rings to change
The filter is put in after a transmission rebuild to catch any metal parts that might be trapped in the cooler or lines. It's a good idea to leave one in there.
The o-rings aren't hard to change. A little cramped to reach, but remove a couple of screws, pull out the old ones, stick in the new ones and replace the screws.
Thanks for the help guys, Ill get those o-rings ordered, one more question while ur here .... What is the lifespan of injectors, this engine clatters louder than most ... I heard there were some injector issues on this engine , or what else should i look for on a truck with these miles
do you have a tuner? Maybe someone changed to single shots. They are a little noiser at idle but way more power. If not if its smooth at idle there problem fine. Good maintanence as long as you own the truck I've heard. Good luck
