4" Diamond-Eye exhust

So I am finely getting around to working on my exhaust again. Here's the question it seems to that the fit of the couplers or joints are very loose. They fit good into the muffler, the tail pipe and the 3" down pipe but the joint that is ahead of the muffler is sloppy loose. I am picking up a 4" band clamp tomorrow and I am thinking of sawing some slots in the pipe about 1/2 the distance of the clamp and maybe even tack welding it a couple of places before installing the clamp.

What do you think good idea or not?

Tim

Its not a bad idea, When I bought my reducer piece, it already had the cuts in it so it tightened up nicely when you torqued on it.
