Heads will roll

Have an old mercury engine we have gotten as payment for a clutch job for a friend. The Cast on the block was C5AE-E which is either a 390 or 427, the heads were C4AE-6090 with either 0 or G on the end. and the intake was a C5AE 2V. so I'm leaning more towards 390 which i don't mind, I was just wondering what kind of heads these were. They have the tall pent Valve covers on them and thought that perhaps they might be better than normal. no idea really but might swap them around on the truck.
Thanks guys

From what I have read those are really good stock heads. I have the exact same ones on my galaxie, but with a 4v intake. Mine is a 390 and came from the factory with 320 or 330 hp depending on where you read, and 427 ft. Lbs. Needles to say they have potential with some port matching and a better intake and exhaust. If your wanting to put them on your truck they should bolt right up to the block and intake, but double check the exhaust manifold bolt pattern first. They had 3 different bolt patterns and the exhaust port locations are a little different. I'm almost positive the car and truck exhaust manifold are different. Oh, and that last digit obscured by the screw is a G.

You can find the same head on a 352 powered truck, good one all the same.

Since that engine is out of the car, take the oil pan off and find the number and letter cast in the second counterweight.
