hey guys anyone going to viva this year???
the car show is pretty good,i dont mind the music and the people are cool most of the time.it used to be more ''traditional'' but now they are calling all the rat rods.I am going and i am taking my f1...
i met people there on 08' that drove their cars and rode motorcycles all the way from canada!!!!!

"Traditional" on this forum means something completely different from the hot rod forums. I once took my old boss and his wife to an Over-the-Line beach party here in San Diego...their Long Island "sensibilities" took quite a shock. Kinda like some old timers here on the FTE might feel at VLV. I am waiting until my 50 Merc is on the road before I show up at VLV.

You got a point Ross...I think that I'll just head a couple miles to the beach and ogle. My tastes run a little more towards the non-tatooed anyway.

 

yes you are right but i mean the tattooed crowed has been pretty good, most of them were nice.,

and yes traditional,old school,vintage etc mean something different to everyone but it was the only way to describe it, i guess.
I lived in Vegas,I was young and naive,mostly stupid and i was looking for a car club to join,I met this guy close to work,he was about 30 yo and he had a primered 2 door and i didnt know what to call it.I approached the guy he was very, very, polite but as soon as I mentioned ''rat rod'' he started to avoid conversations.
He never called me to his car club meeting and I learned a very valuable lesson.
Come to Vegas tho,leave the worries behind(my gf is not coming along)

Me and the little lady are heading out from Texas again. Staying in the Orleans again. I book the hotel for the next year right after we get home each year. We'll be there from Wed-Mon. We're flying so we can stay longer. 4hr Flight>22hr drive and it's cheaper than the gas. We spend more time inside the hotel watching the music than we do outside. The casinos are filled with poser walkabillies who are just there to be seen, but if you have a wristband for VLV and are actually experiencing the event...it's really a good time. Last years car show was better than before, not as many POS ratrods and many more real drag cars and traditional hot rods. This is the first year the car show isn't hosted by the Shifters CC, but Alex from the Shifters is still in charge of the car show. I hope the floodgates don't open with ratrods.

Astrofab yeah the there was some problems going on on 09 and a lot of people got banned from the show and up til this year i seen that they use the term rat rod openly on their website.
i like the car show lots of interesting vehicles.

 

Went to the show a few years ago while in Vegas on a vacation. Didn't even know about the show until a cabbie told us about it. We had him take us there. I liked it. It was a good show. Saw a few 48-52 Ford trucks there. One or two of them were even there from my hometown.

Unfortunately my plans changed.I dint bring my f1 and my gf is here.
so I can only enjoy the vehicles1!!!!!!!

I went to the second one, it was good to see but haven't been back again.......I'm to square . plus, a few bad apples spoiled it...........

 

THE SHOW SUCKED.....It only sucked because I only went to get exited about stuff I cant have.I hope she doesnt read this.
I took lots of pics of the ladies and I never got slapped so I should be ok.
There was a bunch of f1s and f100s.

 

When do we get to see? Both the ladies and cars....
