Hey guys. So I posted this question in another thread ("help with heated seats") but the thread is several years old so I don't think people watch it anymore. I thought I'd try to repost my question on a new thread and see if I can get any input.
Here's my problem:
When I turn on the button (driver's side) I get the orange light, yet no heat. So I pulled the seat out, removed the seat cover and found no areas with burnt wires. I even removed the heating element from the pad and looked at with a flashlight on the back. When I tested for continuity I got a 0.001 on my meter. So I went ahead and replaced both wires between the thigh and rear heating element (soldered an 18ga stranded insulated wire). I now get 0.000 on my meter. Still no heat! So tonight I also did a resistance test and got 001.5. When I tested the pasenger side (since it works according to my wife) I also got 001.5.
Any ideas what to check next? Now it's a mission! God forbid it would be just as simple as finding a burnt wire, replacing it and now my heater works.
Forgot to mention. Before I completely put the seat back together I took the botom heating element and the seat back out to my truck (along with the button) and did a test. I was able to test the wires at the back of the element where they come in and where I soldered in the new wires and was get about 11.5 volts.

I hear the heated seat option works very well in the Nissan Titan<img src="http://images.ford-trucks.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" smilieid="5" class="inlineimg" You know me, just trying to be helpful.
It doesn't. He is a close friend of mine and I was just giving him a little ribbing. One of his first posts on here had to do with racing and then towing a Titan and it turned into the usual internet *&^%*&^ contest. Here is a link to the thread. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...hty-titan.html Read it, pretty entertaining!
Inverted now I understand because it made no sense before, sorry, carry on then.............
PS: I dont know whats up with his seat...did you try putting 12V to it to see if that works?
You just HAD to go to the Nissan thing didn't you? Was funny though!
I don't believe there's a ground (at least that I found) that goes to the heating element in the seat. It seems to be just one continual power loop. However, that was an interesting point. I wonder if I run a direct 12v to the element just to test if it will change anything. Good idea, I'm gonna try that and see if it makes a difference. Thanks.
