...and brought home a shiny new 2011 blue flame XLT supercab 4x4. It took over a week of back and forth with the manager of the dealership before we found the right truck and were able to agree on a deal that was acceptable to both sides. And so, finally, we hit on the right set of numbers so I told him to have it detailed and ready for me to come in after work today to do the paperwork and pick it up. It's kinda dark outside now unfortunately so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to take some pics (all I've got for now is this poor quality cell phone pic) but I was just too darned excited so I had to come over here and share the good news with you all.
just waiting for a sunny day so I can get some pics that show how beautiful this color really is...
... unfortunately they are predicting a soggy, dreary, gray weekend here in the Chicago area so that "fresh from the dealership shine" may not get to stick around as long as I'd like it to...
anyways, I've now had the chance to do some highway driving (the dealership I go to is 30 miles up the interstate from me) and some city driving (the looong 6 mile commute to work) and I will say that everything looks great so far. Feels good, handles good, mileage was just over 20mpg on the drive home from the dealership last nite (avg speed 65 mph) as per the lie-o-meter, reset it this morning and was showing 17mpg for the round trip to work and back (avg speed approx 25 mph). We'll see how those numbers look over time and how they compare to the actual usage calculations that I'll be doing but, if they are even close to being true then this thing is not only way more powerful than my '06 was but gets way better mileage too! (had been getting an avg of 10-11mpg from that 5.4 engine in around town driving so far this winter and never saw better than 17mpg on the highway all last summer).
I really would have liked to check out an EB truck and maybe seen if that would have been a good match for me but, they seem to be pretty rare critters here in the Chicago area thus far so I was unable to find one to take for a test drive. Regardless, the 5.0 is good enough for me so I have no regrets on that front.
I have that color on my 2010. Through the winter I've just been washing it at the spray wash when needed and the color looks good even though it's not as clean as a mit wash would be. Another month and this winter crap should be about done.
