craigslist

Hi,

We show rabbits, and we sell some of the ones that don't fit in. This time, I posted on CL.

I ran one ad under farm and garden, and it was fine. About a week later, I deleted it and ran a similar one. The next morning, it was removed and CL sent me a flagged for removal notice.

They don't really explain why, and I couldn't seem to log in to their forum to ask.

Do they prohibit pet ads? This is a gray area. Many buyers either use them for show, or else their kids show them in 4H. Others do keep them as pets, and they are good pets -- especially for kids with little money who live in smaller homes. We don't knowingly sell them for meat ( and they only weigh abour 2-1/2 pounds, so there's not much demand).

However, they are essentially 'livestock'.

Otherwise, maybe I reupped the ad too soon.

Any clues?
Thanks,

hj

I believe CL does prohibit the sale of pets. I'd try reposting your ad and making it clear at the beginning of the ad that you are selling them as show animals or livestock. CL is generally "policed" by it's users and they send out a generic email when your ad is pulled. I had issues when I was selling off seven trucks in the private sellers section. I put them all in one ad and I kept getting my ad flagged until I specifically wrote that I was a private collector and not a dealer. Good luck.

There is something to be said for "double posting" even though you did delete the original post.

I got hit with it once before as well, my wife was selling something and listed it under the wrong classification, so she deleted it and relisted it properly.

Nope.

Tried again a week later, it worked okay that time.

Thanks guys.

I'll give it another shot in a day or so.

We advertise in the paper as well, but that seems to be losing steam these days. Worked OK until the last couple of times.

I love craigslist, but that flagging can be a real PITA.
I was advertising some mowers in a neighboring market and apparently I was stepping on someone's toes, because he would flag every post almost instantly.
I just let it go for about 4-5 months and reposted without issue.
I know that won't work with rabbits because you have to keep feeding them and they get older and bigger.
But there are quite a few ignorant folk that use craigslist. I guess you have to take the good with the bad.

They generally frown on selling small animals on craigslist. I see people flag and fuss about the animal adds quite a bit. They believe that the small rabbits, puppies, and kittens are being fed to snakes.

Thanks first.

Maybe I'll try adding that we screen buyers. Snakes gotta eat, and that's fine with me, but not our rabbits.

I have flagged an add on CL, but only because I was searching Ford Broncos and it came up to some guys chevy and he had written every manufacture of automobiles in his add to get more hits, that bugs me.
