5.4 Blues Need Help
Well my 2003 5.4(F250) has been good up till about 115k miles, but now its turned unto a pile of crap. It recently stated to have a loud noise in the pasanger side, so I started looking and noticed 3 broken exhaust studs. So I thought that was the prob, put new studs/gaskets in and thought all is well. Wrong! Its still has a tick/nock in the passanger side wheel well area, and now its even hard to get it started and running. It wants to sit and sputter(like its missing) and vibrate the truck until its run for a little bit. What is causing this? It has thrownen no codes. I thought it was a cam phaser, but my truck is a 03 not an 04. What gives?

But if the cop(s) were bad wouldn't it run bad all the time? It only runs bad(misses) when I first start it up sometimes, sometimes it just starts right up and runs fine. Do cops throw a code when thay go bad? Thanks

Moisture can effect the cops, not sure about a startup only type issue. I guess it become hard do diagnose unless everything related is fully tuned up. Your stock plugs have a big gap right now...COP boots will need replacement at least, but I found they get iffy after 100K and now just think of COPs as 100k tune up parts.
