I need to paint my van, it's not peeling just getting preety dull and running with every carwash, I need to know how many quarts it would take to paint a full size cargo van.
Hey , I have painted obut 50 autos in my time, so I may be able to help ya out some. First of all any good paint store can tell you how much paint. Second of all, it depends on if you are painting it the same color. As it takes less paint to do the same color because of bleed through. As i am sure you know you must thin the paint somewhat. One gallon is what you will need. One gallon of paint that is.Allways remember, too much is better then not enough. Three quarts will cost about the same as one gallon and sometimes a gallon is cheaper. So you would want to buy one gallon and if sprayed properly will be plenty. Hope this helps and good luck. Rick
It's read now, but I hate red, it's actually a nice dark red, but I want to go 2 tone, it will be black, blue, or green, and silver. and at $291 a gallon from paint scratch I only want to get as much as needed.
I've decided not to use a basecoat/clearcoat setup, and it will only cost me $250 bucks for the paint and proper chemicals..... I was thrilled, I will make my dad and little bro help me.....
Changing colors, i would recommend primming it with a low priced primer, as the finish coat will cover better and the color you choose to finish it with will be a lighter color. Have you painted autos before? I recommend a gray primer for the color you are going over and the color you are painting it. A light coat of primer would do fine. I would allso reccomend useing acrylic anamel paint. How much paint all depends on the PAINTER,, I can easily paint a full size van with one gallon of paint. I would not reccomend three quart. If a misshap happens you will be screwed for not having enough paint. More is allways better then not enough. Hope i helped you some!

I talked to the guy at the local auto paint store, he said it would take 2 gallons, he had a chipbook for some paint he called "factory specials" I forget what brand it was. Has some nice colors, chose a nice medium blue metallic. He said $250 for the paint and chems....
Hey everyone,
I have a 2003 F-150 and I need to re-paint my bed. It is an eight foot bed. And I am spraying the same color that is already on it but it just needs a re paint. How much paint do I need.
thanks so much for any insight.

The bed should be easy to measure. I would think from the dimensions they could tell you at the paint store how much you need to cover it. Sandy
