Getting a few upgrades

Well by the looks of it turbo project is on hold right now and I have to buy a front end or fix it from my wild adventures the other night, god it pays to be 22!! I found a 60 for real short money thanks to kris and the guy will let it go for 300$ everything but the track bar.. But it's a 93 so I have to deal with the crap old brakes...
With the other bit of plow money I think I'll get push rods springs and rebuild my turd of a zf5, I've been waitin to tackle that problem for some time now.
Hpop is goin out next week and I'm finally picking up new rear tires tonight becuase I hammered my poor geo tracs lol so if anyone wants a video of the burnout to finish These things off let me know LOL

On another note! First full week with electric fuel and i couldn't be happier, 10 degree starts...efuel makes up for what my dead glow plugs could not! It's amazing actually, no more 5 minutes to start when not plugged in and smokes WAY less in the mornings. No more blue smoke for the poor guy behind me on them freezing days. My hot tune is Alot of fun now! And boost Is just right there when ever! I gained 3lbs back

Haha it pays to be young and being able to roll around under the truck and up in the engine bay a lot better compared to the rest of these old guys on here lol, we better enjoy it while it lasts. Quick question, U can build an entire elec fuel system with dual pumps do pushrods and rebuild ur zf5, but u cant take an hr to replace gp's haha jk glad to here the elec fuel is working great. And burnout vids are a must y would u even ask haha. And sounds like u have qiuet a few projects on ur hands good luck man.

If you have the zf42 then just replace it with a 47. You'll like that much better. I've been finding remans for 1600-1700 or so. To me it's worth it. There are several improvements on the 47 that I really like. bearings, tiny bit longer input shaft that is easier on pilot bearings, replaceable stub in the front for the throw out bearing. My 42 is getting trashed when the 47 comes in.

Lol!! Yeah I don't know what it us but I just don't feel like doing the glow plugs haha I'm stuburn
And there's no newer zfs around here that would justify that kind of cost, I'm rebuilding mine myself for a 5th of that cost, always wanted to do a gearbox rebuild on s larger scale, besides I'm sending out the input and what ever else I feel is needed to be cryoed

Steve been talking to Travis. haha.

I haven't found out how his cryo deal has finished up yet.
I know he had some issues with the company and mechanic he had doing the pressing for him.

dan is right though, the strength upgrades for the 47 are worth it if you can find one.

Change your mind on duals and going for a t500 now Steve?

yeah theres litterally no zfs around here at all and when they are there a TON of money, so i guess ill just stick to the original, its treated the truck well for the 166k its been in there!
im doing the t500 for now and when joey is all done with the t1000 ill be picking that up off him, he said its going to be in direct competition with the srp1 and cheaper so im deff sticking with joey, hes treating me well!
i think your mistaking me with someone else william, possibly cowmilker? i dont have the patience for dual hpops

I actually spoke with Midwest Trans this morning about this.
He's been build these ZF's forever. He says the 42 and 47 have IDENTICAL input shafts and case. The difference is purely internal, which he highly recommends the 47 like everyone else does.
His S5-47 remans are $1199 plus shipping, FWIW.

I was under the impression the 47 had a stronger case also compared to the 42.

bearings and bushings are the main ones, and different syncro's also.

They just guide the gears together from my understanding.
So i dont see how it would benefit you any.

That's an extremely long story, but just so that everyone knows.. 300 Below took care of me in a huge way. The guy building my ZF on the other hand is about to get hit with a lawsuit if he doesn't get off his a$$... Mine is a ZF5-S47 that I'm switching to, BTW.

Steve, just send them the input shaft... I sent all the shafts, gears, bearings, etc, but that's not neccessary. Just something I wanted to do to kind of help longevity.

I just remember you telling me some thing about shipping something and it being sent back poorly shipped. Not sure if it was the cryo place, or the trans guy.

I remember the trans guys stuff though.
Sucks you still dealing with that.

To bad the old shotgun on the front counter trick doesn't work anymore.

Well, might still in some of those southern states. haha.

Travis has the right idea on this though in my opinion.

The parts were poorly packaged from 300 Below, but the guy that packaged them took a significant pay cut b/c of it from what the big boss at 300 Below told me. They also refunded my money for the cryoing, sent me a check of $1600 to replace the broken parts with brand new parts + pay for labor, and then on top of all that told me if I want the new parts treated to send them in and notify them and only the big bosses would handle my parts to ensure I get taken care of 110%.

The trans guy, well all I can say about him is I'm getting very aggrivated with him..

I should have taken that check from 300 Below and put it down on a BTS.. LOL

Sorry for the hijack Steve. That should let you know what kind of company 300 Below is though. Customers are their top priority fo sho!!!
