The mustang op asked for help. Someone on the mustang forum "helped" him. There are people who then yelled at the op for being clueless after he was misled, not the original "helper". The op was "helped" to a loss of thousands of dollars and humiliation.
The world is full of people that are mean a-holes that try to get a laugh at the expense of others. There is also a sizable number of people who will laugh at the misfortune that ensues. What a world. What a world.

I watched a lady buy a can of brake parts cleaner and didnt think anything of it. I was parked next to her and i bought my stuff and when i walked out and she had her hood open and spraying it all over everything and all the electronics. I asked what she was doing and she told me "Im degreasing the motor and electric parts"..................I just walked away.

There were also several people who told him to "take it to a shop!!" after some of his other postings. Such as wanting to run straight lucas additive with no oil, and trying to put the oil in thru the dipstick tube. IMO, someone who is so dense that they think they add oil thru the dipstick tube should NOT be working on their vehicle without a more knowledgeable person there to help, and if they do not have someone like that handy, then they should go to the shop and watch the first time before they attempt it themselves. The person who said to run water in it was trying to use sarcasm to make the OP realize he was in over his head even doing an oil change. Sadly, the sarcasm was even over the OP's head.

It is amazing!
SAD but amazing
I see more and more and more people like this EVERYDAY!!
Neighbor lady just called a few days ago asking if car should be running or not when checking oil. Recently divorced, but in her late 40s. At least she called. Too bad I am close to the one and only resource in my entire neighbor hood for such things. Her 2 teenage sons, teenage daughter, new boy friend, or anybody else could not tell her

My brother-in-law does 99% of his own back-yard shade-tree mechanic work. He believes in just changing his oil filter, and topping off the oil. He says that the filter is supposed filter the oil anyway. I just shake my head and walk away. I have seen some of his other repair and maintenance work, it just flat out scares me. To the best of my knowledge, they have never owned a new vehicle, only used ones. I believe that they have spent more on used vehicles and repairs in total then the total in maintenance and payments on all four of the new vehicles that my wife and I have owned in the 26 years of our marriage. By the way, we still have and use three of the four vehicles that we purchased new. The second one we bought was totaled by a wrong way driver, one month after we paid it off. As a side note, I went to automotive school for a number of years before and after I got married. I no longer work in that field, but learned quite a bit. I now do all of my own repair work, as long as I have the equipment to do it (of which I have quite a lot of).

Joke or not, OP's fault or not, doesn't matter. I was hoping someone else caught it, but since no one did...
The OP is from "Toldeo, Ohio."
PS it is possible that oil was still draining after 10 minutes- it was likely only dripping or in a very, very small stream, but it happens, especially if the motor was cold when he drained it. I often let my vehicles drain for 1/2 hour and come back to find it's still dripping. I know that the bulk of the oil is gone but if that whole thing was true and the OP was really that dense, he wouldn't have known any better.
