Afternoon everyone. Saw my first Robin of the year and glad to say spring has sprung.
Many robin's spent the winter here in Peoria this year. I wouldn't say Spring has sprung yet. You might have seen one of the stupid robins that stayed here for the Winter then headed home early. It was strange seeing robins on Christmas Day. We're both getting tired of Winter.
I'm hoping it's a good sign though. I didn't have any Robins at my feeders this winter, but had flocks of Cardinals (25 or so together) and the usual Sparrows, Juncos, Nuthatches, Chickadees, Blue Jays, various Woodpeckers, and even a Pine Grosbeak. But yeah, either way I'm glad Winter is leaving. Sorry about going on about birds...

Robins won't feed at feeders, they eat worms and soft berries. I am ready for Winter to just go away.
Ah yes, I know that... I just mean, I haven't seen hide nor hair of any in my yard. Come the warmer weather they hang out in my yard which is set up to be bird friendly. I guess that sounds strange, but my Dad got me into bird watching as a kid and it's a hobby I never really got tired of. But yes, glad winter is behind us.

Your location says northern IL. For world class bird watching you need to get over to the Mississippi just north of Savanna to Palisades State Park or further south along 84 to the Fulton lock and dam. Its part of the Upper Mississippi bird and wildlife refuge. Nesting eagles (lots of them again). If you're up near Rockford, 20 west to 84 south will get you there pretty easily or PM me for the back roads route if you want. It's a great day trip with the kids but ideally you need to get to the Fulton dam at sunrise for the best show when the eagles swoop down to the water surface to feed.
