Dump trailer charge wire
I have a 04 F450 c/c .I want to run a 2/0 guage wire from the battery on the truck directly to the Dump Trailer hydro pump. The trailer is a 10,000lb cap twin cylinder. The only thing that im hung up on is what size circut breaker will I need to run. Any help will be great, Thanks

(2/0 wire is probably over kill,2 gauge should be o.k.)
But that would also be determined by the amp rating for the motor.

For OO gauge wire the maximum circuit breaker size would be 400A to insure the breaker blows before the wire. Or you can size it for the actual current the pump draws and add about 50 percent more for margin. Just don't exceed 400A. It may be overkill to run 00 wire but you will get more power to the pump by doing it.

The install on the wiring went great, I have strong power going to the solonid , I installed a velvac single pole disconnect with the ground going through the provided hole on the plug handle. A 150amp breaker in line. I think that 2/0 wire is way over kill but it beats a burnt up truck, Thanks to all for the info.
