I have had the Edge programmer, the Edge ez, dp tunes and finally dp live tunes. I would not look back, live tunes from any competent tuner is the best case situation. As stated it depends on what you want and how much you care to spend. On some vehicles the "canned" tunes work well, on some they don't. I was able to sell my edge products on craigslist for almost what I paid for the dp f5 with 6 tunes.

I have the same one in my 02 and it works great.
I keep it in the second position and dont have guages.
Shifts fine and goes way better than the truck did to start with.
I wouldnt want any more , I could tell on the third setting (I tested it out for a few days)that it would be easy to rip something apart if you kept your foot in it.
