Hey guys I've been having some brake issues. Lately the had to stand on my Brakes and put it all the way to the floor to get the truck to slow down. There really isn't any pedal resistance as you push it either. And the brake light on my dash came on and I have no idea what that means either. It's my DD so I need it in good shape soon. It's getting unsafe to drive. So any ideas or help on what you think its problem is would be great. Thanks guys.

Check your brake fluid level, if it's low then check your wheel cylinders and rubber lines. If there's a leak in the system you'll see it, probably behind the backing plates or behind the rear brake drums. I just replaced the rear wheel cylinders, brake shoes, hardware and all rubber hoses on my truck this weekend. The brakes are the most important part of your vehicle. With your peddle going all the way down before stopping the truck an accident is just waiting to happen. You really need to get your brakes fixed soon. My Taurus got hit from behind last year and the kid told me his brakes had been needing fixed but he hadn't got around to having it done, I told him it was a little too damn late now.
The brake light comes on when there is an imbalance between the front and rear brake systems. Usually the rear wheel cylinders are leaking (if you have front discs, if you have drums in front they can be suspect too) or the master cylinder is leaking. Once the fluid leaks out the other end of the truck is doing all the braking work, hence the imbalance in braking pressure.
Agreed, the light is on because there's a pressure difference between the front and rear. Either the master cylinder is pushing the fluid through but there's a leak downstream, or the master cylinder is not pushing the fluid through. Check the entire system for leaks, and check for hose expansion. If none are found, replace the master cylinder.
