Turbo Mods

OK Guys,
I'm getting ready to do my Turbo, I'm going to install the 1.0 exhaust housing I got from Roland (Mueckster Thanks man) and put my stock compressor wheel back on and turn my EBPV in to a exhaust brake. The only question I have here is my turbo has 161,000 miles on it should I put a rebuild kit in it while I have it out? So what do you think post up opinions.

Sounds like a plan and reps to Roland when we see him. Personally I'd rebuild it while its out but if you don't have any tell tail signs, shaft play exct, roll with it...

With 161K I'd rebuild it before I put it back in. That way you won't be telling yourself "I should've". Might save you some money or a break down in the long run.

Post some pics of the old bearings and seals and whatever so we can see how it handled those miles.

For the low price of a rebuild it's a might as well thing. Perhaps rebuild your ebpv as well to fight that future oil leak.

It's fun to rebuild them too! Good luck!!

I was going to post this exact question, I have 145k on mine, and the pedastal orings are starting to seep, might as well rebuild the turbo and pedastal while its out, its a giant PIA to remove it all, at least the first time, was one helluva battle doing my buddies late 99 o-rings last month. This just solidified my decision, thanks.

Im glad you posted this question, I am going to be doing my up pipes soon, and I figured that I would throw the turbo I have sitting on the shelf in for kicks, guess I will rebuild mine too.

Thanks, I figured the sawzall was the way to go. No need to waste my time and keep the old ones. Just need to place my order, and feel my wallet get lighter... But worth it

A rebuild is cheap and easy, and it's kind of fun. It was neat to see the guts of it and replace those bushings and seals.
