Ok, i have a 1979 camper special 3/4 ton with a full time transfer case. and i does not have lock in hubs.
now inside the cab on the fourwheel drive shifter there is a **** that does not say 2wheel 4hi and 4low. it just has four dots on it the two in the middle say nothing and the two on the end just say lock.
now when im supposedly in two wheel drive my front tires still spin out on the ice, like a regular four wheel drive truck with lock in hubs. but when im on asphalt and i turn it feels like im in two wheel drive.
then when i put the transfer case in lock it still does the same thing on the ice, but when i try and turn on asphalt it jumps like im in four wheel drive.
so my question is am i always in four wheel drive?? and what does it do when i put the transfer case in lock.
so do you mean that both tires in the front are grabbing together? at the same exact time as the back? I thought that in order to do that you had to put lockers in
While you are in "unlock" mode, the T-case acts as a differential. It sends power to either the front axle, or rear axle. If your front tires are on grass, and your rear tires are on asphalt, and you punch it...your front tires are going to spin. And visa-versa
Now, when you put it in "Lock", the T-case locks the front and rear driveshafts together sending equal power to the front and rear axle just like any normal part-time case.
