Brake Fluid Leak 2000 F150 Lariat

I need some help, my left driver side brake is leaking on my 2000 F150 Lariat 5.4 Triton V8. I have disc brakes and I need to change the rotors and pads as they are in need of replacement. When I got under the truck I noticed fluid, the next day the pedal went to the floor, so I added some fluid before going to the parts store. When I came out to leave there was a small puddle of fluid. I am now sure what that means, other than something is leaking... Any suggestions ?

Would think a wet spot would be visable where it's leaking. If the "puddle" is at the wheel it's either coming from the caliper or the brake line. I would start by looking for the wet spot on the brake hardware then have someone pump the brakes and hold while you look for possible sources from under the truck. Look closely at the flex lines at each front wheel.
Hope that helps...

Jeff thank you, wasn't sure but I thought the caliper might need to be replace, looks like that is where it is coming from. That shouldn't be too hard to replace do you think?

It's easier than doing drum brakes in my opinion! Suggest changing both calipers, new pads and have rotors turned or replaced if undersized! Make sure to clean anchor pins, cover with a thin coat of high heat grease and use thread lock compound before hanging caliper. Getting all the air out of the system will be the hardest part!
Have fun...

If it is your rubber flex line on your left side, replace the right side also.
I wouldnt think you would need to spend money on calipers if not needed.
Trace that leak before you go and spend unneeded cash.

Like the above poster reccomended, grease the slide pins, thread lock on caliper bolts/pins. Always replace dust seals with new ones over the inner bearings.

Good reminder moto - if it's a two wheel drive, clean/inspect/repack front wheel bearings while it's apart. If it's a four wheel drive I think the bearings are sealed and can't be greased.
With an eleven year old truck, if the calipers have not been rebuilt/replaced, this would be the time to do it!
Oh, and moto, he said the leak WAS coming from a caliper...

^^ very true, I should have asked 4wd or 2wd.

Actually He said LOOKS LIKE, just didnt want him to throw money at parts that wasnt needed before inspecting the actual location of the leak.

Gee, the last time I had that problem, I had a steel brake line rust through and burst right near the LF caliper.

If you cannot inspect the hydraulic brake system yourself, have the truck towed to a shop and have it checked by someone who does know what they're doing.
