Need help to identify

I have a 1-1/2 ton that I have tentatively identified as a 1940 based on the headlight configuration (signal lights in the base of the headlight mount). I cannot find a serial number anywhere on the vehicle but the registration slip shows the number as HTB61512. Can anyone help me out here?

I am also looking for a source for overhaul manuals for this truck as I have started a ground-up restoration.

Need help to identify

Hi John - Welcome to FTE and the 1947 & Older forum.

The VIN number would be on the top frame rail, drivers side and should be about 8 to 10 inches from the very front.

Be patient and one the guys will step in to help on the other issues.

Thanks for the welcome Carlene;

As for the VIN location, I may be out of luck finding it on the frame rail. This truck is a fire truck and the frame rails were cut off right in front of the front spring hangers to accomodate a pump.

Any other locations for a VIN?

John

If it's like the 1/2 tons then it should also have been stamped on the bellhousing.
