my truck is a 1979 f250 it has a 460, C6 trans, and Dana 60 rear.
I have had this truck since 2002 and have had to replace the carb once already it is the stock holley 4160 and the truck is full california emission controlled, i now live in oklahoma and would like to remove as much of the emission controls as i can. what kind of carb can i put on it? The motor is a crate engine that i put in in 2005 and i put this carb on brand new in 2007. from what i have read i think the power valves blow out in the carb causing it to run improperly. i just want something i can replace it with and not have to touch this is the fourth carb on the truck from what i was told. i would prefer to take off as much of the vacuum system as possible while im at it, it has a bunch of vacuum valves. I would like to get it to the bare essentials.
Well with 21 thread views and no opinions, I will throw out a FTE welcome and welcome to the midwest also, "Howdy Pard".
I hear Holly truck avenger is good and I hear Edelbrock is also? I have a factory
4 bbl/intake on my blue sig truck with a 460, and the red no bed one in my garage pics has a "get it and bolt it on" Edelbrock 600.
I lean towards Edelbrock, but everyone has mixed strong opinions. I am putting a Edelbrock on my 71 EB.
Post up some truck **** AKA a pic of what you own. FTE'ers like that stuff!
Thanks for the reply which model of edlebrock where you looking into the 1406? i have been leaning towards puttin an edlebrock on it for a while since i have only had bad luck with holleys.
Yeah i need to get soe pics of the beast, the body is in horrible shape though lol. dont have a camera at the moment other than my iphone, it takes good pics ill have to get some.
the holley will blow the power valve every single time the engine backfires, then its rebuild time. i know this from experiance thats why im running a autolite 4100 4 bbl
