Need Advise

My 92 F 150, 5.0 4X4 won't stay runing most of the time.. It starts cold great but once it reaches runing temps it dies and will not start again until it has sat for 6/7 hours. I've been throught both the emission and fuel systems. I have almost 260K on the motor, It won't hold compression. It was starting to smoke but stopped and does not knox.Motor sounds strong when it does run. I'm thinking it needs a ring job, if that is the case I'm thinking I should just have a new motor put in. Any advise Please.......

Your rings wouldn't be that bad, that it just up and dies. You probably have a bad ignition component. Most likely either the coil or the PIP in the distributor. I would try the coil first as it is much easier and cheaper to replace.
