help replacing front windshield
does anyone know if the glass has to be sealed into the gasket if so what type of sealer? and should the gasket be sealed to the truck as well? thanks for any advice

I am by far no expert on this but i have replaced the windshields in 3 of the 4 trucks i have owned and have helped friends replace several in their vehicles over the years....that being said you may have to use some sort of sealant on the rubber to cab side but not on the rubber to glass side....for ease of installation you should use some NON pumice hand cleaner in the glass channel and on the windshield itself in order to get the glass to slide in easily......just make sure you seat the glass fully and do it on as warm a day as you can .

No sealer needed at all . Put the gasket on the glass on a table , . put a clothes line size rope in the body pinch weld slot in the gasket all the way around.. Set the glass in the opening , soap the gasket with something like fantastic. Have a friend put pressure on the glass from outside ,while you pull the rope from the inside of the vehicle ....
