My dealer has a memo from Ford stating that they can charge up $275 on doc fees for A,D,Z and X plans.
If you look at my post above on the x-plan calculations, you will see there is an asterisk. The part I hadn't shown was the asterisk reference.
*$275 Administration Fee.
So between the $100 doc fee, the $275 fee, regional advertising fee, it adds up.
I did a lot of research on this. Can you beat x-plan pricing? Yes. In my experience, by approximately $500 if you work at it.
But for me, that would have meant buying from a dealer almost 75 miles away. I also never took it far enough to actually sign on the dotted line. I don't know how much bs i would have dealt with in "oh, yeah, there's this other fee".
In the end, to avoid the hassles, and to go with a dealer I like who is close by, I used my x-plan pin.
On a purchase of almost $40K, less than $500 wasn't worth the extra effort to me, and in the end depending on rebates, I may be better off.
You can haggle and beat X plan if the vehicle you want to buy is on the lot already, if you order like me, X Plan is the way to go. Just a smidge over $29k out the door.
