As you see most here are going to recommend a true chip that plugs into the pcm. With this said you will need to spend some money on a good set of gauges with pyro, trans temp and boost. This will allow you to see what your motor and tranny are going through.
Once you get a chip you will want more........

Ive got 6pos chips from BTS in both my trucks. I like these tunes WAY better than my last chip... There are many ways to add more power to these trucks - not all 'chips' are the same. I wasn't unhappy with the most-recommended chip - but im not going back to it after driving BTS's tunes....

The 'programmers' require shutting truck off to change programs and all over the counter (superchips, etc) suck!

Those other guys are out of their minds. They have no clue what they are talking about. I can't believe they didn't mention DP Tuner. Sheesh

Once you go chip, you will want more. The gauges are an EXCELLENT tip. But if you only want another 60 or so HP, then ok...maybe you won't need all the gauges. But if you go ...EGT and Tranny are the most important IMO. Especially the tranny temps. This will tell you if you are about to burn it up. THen EGTs to make sure you aren't getting into it too hard. After that tho, for the fun, Boost pressure...then fuel pressure. Those will also help you diagnose if anything starts acting up on the truck.

There are other chips out there like Tony Wildman... just depends on who you decide to go with... DP and TW are both great places to go for chipped power.

If you decide to try some of the "canned" tuners, remember they are "generic" tuners for these trucks. Basically considering all 7.3's are the same. The chips are set for YOUR truck specifically depending on the PCM code, VIN number and any mods you have done. Plus they will get you more power and TQ. And you can switch settings on the fly.

I believe Superchips makes you stop, turn off the engine, turn on but not start, click this, press that, kick the left front tire three times, then the change will take effect but only if you stick your tounge out to the right when starting it.

, I almost fell outta my seat laughing!!

I have never ran a programmer, i did my home work on this site to know that that isnt what I wanted. The great thing about DP is you can pick the tunes you need or want and you dont have to spend any more money than you need to on things you dont want, customer service is second to none. If you talk to James or email him and tell him what mods you have and what youll be doing with the truck he'll be more than happy to make up a ''suggested tune list'' just for you and your truck. Im happy with mine, good luck
