First off hello everyone. Looked around for a little bit and didn't see anything close to the issue I'm having. I have a 1994 E-150 conversion. The front blower motor quit working not long ago so I checked the plug at the motor and it had power so I replaced the motor. It worked for a couple days and stopped. I checked the motor and it's still good so I proceeded to check fuses both under the hood and under the dash, all were good. Next I checked the fan switch in the dash, on the front switch I have no power but the rear switch has power to 3 of the wires. I swapped plugs and both fan switches are good. Since none of the wires for the front switch have power and I have no clue if they go straight to the fuse panel or hit a relay or some other switch somewhere what would my next logical step be? I'm at a loss since every connection I've found for this I've connected and re-connected and still nothing.
I'm going to bet that the resistor block on the front blower is bad. The resistor block is located at the lower right of the motor assembly. When it fails completely, it can disrupt the power supply to the switch altogether.
Well after a $40 blower motor, $27 resistor, $32 worth of relays I have a working horn but still no heat in front lol. Next purchase may very well be a 20lb sledgehammer lol. Thanks for the link to the other post as this pointed me to the relays, which were bad due to corrosion. 2 wires on the blower relay were just poking into the base, guessing since I could see the tire below the mounting clips I found out where the water would be coming from. I clipped and cleaned the wires one at a time so as not to get them mixed and put new connectors on and taped them like you wouldn't believe but still no front blower motor.
I think it may be something before the maxi fuse since that's good. I'll put a meter to the fuse tomorrow and see if it's got voltage so I know where to go from there. I only saw one fusible link tucked near the battery but don't think there's one for the blower. I could be mistaken and have been before though lol. Thanks for the replies and potential fixes. I'll post back after I check that maxi fuse
Well so much for thinking lol. With the key on and set to floor I have power on both sides of the 50A maxi fuse so would that mean my problem is somewhere between the fuse and the relay? Why can't electrical problems be straightforward and simple lol.
Thanks for the diagram, even though I was hoping for a fusible link in there somewhere lol. Being that the wire ends were pretty much gone due to moisture around the relay it might have possibly caused an issue somewhere in the wire. Looks like I'll be taking all the electrical tape off to see if the wires at the relay are getting voltage. I guess I should have went easy on the tape or checked the wires beforehand. Thanks again, back out into the cold......I just checked the wires and have voltage on the yellow, and yellow/red tracer and no voltage on the orange/red tracer with the key on. Key off only the yellow has power. I jumpered the 2 main wires (yellow and orange/red tracer) and the motor ran so it looks like one of the two relays I just bought were bad. Off to get another and see if that works. Also found this thread which shows the terminal numbers and what wire goes where https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...-not-work.html and I still don't know if it was just a new bad relay or if I hooked a wire up wrong but after getting another relay I have heat again Thanks for all the help.
