Front Brake Upgrade
I have a 79 F150 4x4 short bed, my brakes have always felt weak. The rear seem fine the front are the ones that are weak on stopping power. Everything is original. Is there a minor upgrade that I can do to just the front calipers to give the truck more braking power?? I have read about major brake system overalls but I do not want to go this route. I have also read that there is another set of calipers you can bolt right on that give the front more braking power, I think it was a set of thunderbird calipers. Would anyone have the details on this upgrade and any other changes that would have to be made?? Appreciate any and all help!! Thanks!!

Your front discs are single piston calipers, find the front set up off any F-250 4x4 from 76 to 79 and they had twin piston calipers and I am pretty sure a lot bigger rotors. Switching too this set up would and will make a considerable difference. You also need the correct master cylinder for the twin piston setup to work efficiently. This set up is much better then what you are currently running, and there are plenty of them still to be found in junk yards or via the web.
