Check Engine Light Help

Hey, This is my problem I have a f150 4.2 6cyl check engine light is on I have went to autozone had it checked and Kwik Kar had it checked and a muffler place the codes come up p1151, p1131, p0171, p0174 they said could be the MAF sensor or a Vacum leak or maybe the 02 sensor and even one guy said the fuel filter. This is just crazy if I take it to ford they want to charge 110.00 just to check to see what it is.
If anyone can help me with info that would be great.
Thanks

I suggest that you purchase an OBDII reader, and throw it in the toolbox.
The problem with all of these places is that they are "ready" to sell parts, and would be happy to "suggest" what the issue is.With the money youll spend at the dealer, you can have a nice reader, and research codes that come up.
Not to mention, these readers will work on almost all vehicles.

BTW...Welcome to the Forum!

Intake manifold gaskets were common on the 4.2L. Replace the uppers and lowers and you will probably be ok. Those codes are o2 sensor codes and lean codes. If your intake manifold gaskets are leaking it is letting unmetered air into the engine and causing it to run lean. If you take it to the dealer they are just going to look at fuel trims and tell you the same thing.

Good luck,
Dave
