Hi everyone.......So heres the scoop on my 89 7.3. I replaced my return lines due to air intrusion. It then started to smoke blueish white smoke when the engine was not under a load. Put the pedal down and it would not smoke! So since I had 120k on my injectors I replaced them with New injectors and also replaced the IP. In doing so I had One inj that was hard to remove. When I got it out It was full of carbon! I cleaned as well as I could! One problem I had though was I couldn't get the Copper washer out (any help with how to do this would be grateful). I got the pump replaced. I got it started up and now no matter where I turn the pump to it will blow Tons of white smoke and It does have a slight antifreeze smell to it but barely! on a cold start it won't blow anything till it starts to warm up the gets to the point you cant see the road behind you! It does idle a little lower then before too! So with all that said How to do I check to find out if its Cavitaion or Head gasket or niether! I have around 220k on the engine and some of those miles were not the best cared for miles! Did my best while in college but when moneys short its short! I have searched and looked at lots of posts but don't seem to get the direct answers that I'm lookin for! Thanks in advance for the help!
OK so I came home and let the truck warm up real good and made quite a smoke screen for the neighbors who were not at all impressed with my smoke signals abilities! lol My nightmare has been confirmed and I have lots of antifreeze coming out the exhaust! So I guess I just need to figure out if its Cavitation or a head gasket! I imagine since there is no oil in the coolant and no coolant in the oil I will need to disassemble and take the heads off! Can anyone let me know if this is the correct thinking! Thanks
