diesel problems

i'm having problems starting my 6.9 diesel.

After it sits all nights I have to prime it every morning. I have taking the water seperator out cause it was sucking air, i did check the hose clamps (where the water seperator was).
Any ideas what i can check where it could be getting air or why it the fuel runs back to the tank.

thanks

Definitely sounds like the classic air intrusion. With the change in fuel (Low sulfur to ultra low sulfur) there have been a lot of o-ring leaks at the injectors. That is a likely culprit to start with. The water separator is a common issue as well.

caps and orings on the top of the injectors, kits can be had for 30 or so. Not hard to change either.

Look for fuel return kits, that will give you new caps, o-rings, and return lines. Ebay is a good source.

I would say that you either have insuffecient fuel psi as a result of them being lose or air was sucked into the lines as a result of these loose fittings. You need to crack your injectors one by one (sometimes you get lucky and only have to crack a couple, and then the air gets moved out and you will have fuel there.

Lol wow. Another thing, my buddy ran his older gmc or chev out of gas one time. He coasted to the pumps and it died. We had to crack I think the injector pump I think also. I would suspect its not getting enough fuel. Are your glow plugs heating it up enough?

just a up date I found the main fuel line to the injector pump was loose. did my best to tighten it up. So i tighten up all the injector lines as well. Now it starts not too bad, but I can start it without filling the batteries and just a couple of tries.

But now i have to find a anti-freeze leak coming from the front of the motor some where but it s not coming from any hoses.

Look closely at the underside of the water pump at the base of the impeller shaft, there's
a hole through which antifreeze leaks when the bearings inside start going bad.

Ok thanks I'll have to look for that it is leaking from the front of the motor some place. I can see it dripping on the steering linkage more on the passager side
