Camshaft install
First drain your coolant, remove your all your accesories, intake manifold, waterpump, and front cover. Make sure you label your bolts. Ford used different lengths in a few places.
Remove the 3 bolts holding the cam timing chain on, and use a puller to remove the crank gear too. Loosen up the shaft rockers and store your pushrods in a zip-lock bag. Spin cam around to pop up the lifters, and recyle them. Now carefully and slowly pull the cam out. Being carefull not to mar or knock out your cam bearings.
Remove your heads or you can do the spring set-up on your heads while they are installed. I would do it on a desk. It is never fun leaning over for a few hours.
Slide in slowly and carefully back into the motor. Insert bad annology here. Insert new lifters into motor after they have soaked for a couple of hours in low weight oil. Set rocker stands on heads, and insert the push rods. Tighten down to factory specs.
Put everything back on the motor that was there before, and change the oil with a cam break in lube too.
Fire up the motor set the timing and let it run for 30 minutes.
Change oil, and let it ride for 1000 miles.
Then change the oil at normal intervals.
