yet another problem

i posted below about my truck not running right and dont think this is related so i will start a new thread.since i got my truck the oil pressure gauge is a little on the high side about 3/4 the way up the normal side i figured every thing was ok.the other day i lost all oil pressure so i shut the truck off and started it back up and it was fine for a while.so today i was warming the motor up and was in the garage and herd a strange knock and i looked and no oil pressure again. shut the truck off and it was fine. later on i let the truck idle a while and it did the same thing again. i dont want to ruin the motor so i need to get this fixed asap. the only thing i can think of is the oil pump is bad but i hope not any other ideas?

sounds like the pick up screen is plugging up with some kind of debris. shutting it off lets it drop back down in the bottom of the pan till it draws it back up. i had a truck that the oil pan was sealed with rtv and it got in the pan and did the same thing

A few pages popped up about FRAM oil filters elements melting and clogging everything.
People ranting about cutting the suckers open after they've been used just to make ourselves sick.

Fram may also private label too.

All I did was ask if they were any good and got like 2 pages of *%*()*&*%&^!!

you might want to check and see what you have on there for starters.

fdude may be correct. But I would try changing the oil filter first, I saw a plugged oil filter act like that once. What is your most recent oil and filter change history? How long ago did you change the oil and filter? What brand filter did you use?

oil and filter was replaced just before i got it. once i get it running correctley i plan on changeing the oil and filter anyhow and adding a little sea foam too. now that you said the pickup screen might be cloged that sounds like it might be the culprit. now if i can get it to run right i will be in good shape.
