Mustang steering wheel.

I was walking with my dogs yesterday, and saw a 66 Mustang similar to the one I had before with the deluxe interior.

I wonder if that steering wheel will fit my 66 F100? I really loved that steering wheel. It was classy, just perfect it my mind, and would look perfect in my truck.

Would it work on my F100 Column or did they use different splines?

BTW I have manual steering.

I'm assuming you are talking about the stock '66 Mustang steering wheel and not the (fake) wood one. I had a spare '66 Mustang wheel that I bolted onto my '66 F100. No problem at all with the splines. It has a smaller diameter and a more shallow dish depth to it, and I think there might be issues with horn actuation, although I'm not sure, and there was a slightly larger gap that was a bit unsightly between the bottom of the wheel and the next stop on the column, but not that bad. So yes, basically it will work. I have an extra Mustang Rally Pac I'm planning to bolt onto my steering column that looks pretty good in mock-up. Just a thought. One other thing, the Mustang steering wheel feels significantlly less "heavy duty" than the stock F-100 wheel, which might be an issue without power steering - or then again it might not. Good luck.

I would think if you could mount a standard (Slick type) horn ring onto a mustang steering wheel; that be cool looking! just a though. What's a center mustang horn bezel look like compare to a standard F100 style?

There were two different 1965 Mustang wood grained steering wheels. One was only used w/a generator (before 8/17/64).

1965's from 8/17/64, the wheel and ring are the same as 1966.

The early (before 8/17/64) Mustang wheel uses the same horn brush and insulator (C2OZ-13A821-A) as the trucks (1961/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD and etc). So...there's no problem with the horn.

1965's from 8/17/64, 1966's do not have a horn brush/insulator. So you'll have to fab something up so the horn will blow.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1961/66 F100/250 2WD, 1966 F100 4WD, 1967/70 F100/250 2WD/4WD, 1969/70 F350, 1966/72 Bronco and 1960/63 Falcon/Comet use the same three spoke steering wheel.

This wheel (C3DZ-3600-A) has been reproduced in black only by DC. The horn ring (C3DZ-13A805-D) used w/this wheel is also the same as above (except Comet & Bronco).

C2OZ-13A821-A .. Horn Brush & Insulator Kit.

Fits: 1961/66 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100 4WD / 1967/70 F100/350.

Fits: 1962/64 Fairlane/Meteor / 1963 Falcon Sprint / 1963/64 Ford Custom/Galaxie/XL / 1964 Falcon/Comet / 1964/66 Thunderbird / 1965 Mustang w/a Generator (before 8/17/64).

From 8/17/64, Mustang's had an alternator and did not use C2OZ-13A821-A.

Mustang's assembled before 8/17/64 had a generator, different: steering wheels, TSS, horn ring, horn ring retainer, hood, front fender Mustang nameplates, 289 engine block, waterpump, timing cover than Mustang's assembled from 8/17/64.

1965 Mustang shown to the public for the first time April 17, 1964 at the NY World's Fair and went on sale nationwide on April 23, 1964.

Life Magazine had a multi-page Mustang article the following week after the car was introduced, and it was supposed to be on the cover, but...

General Douglas MacArthur had just passed away (4/5/1964), so he was pictured on the cover instead.
