400M heads

hey everyone i need some help. i have a 78 400M and one of my heads cracked during a cold snap, i dont want to go and get nice new performance heads because i jstu do have the cash/care to get them. what i need to know is what heads will fit on the 400M?

i have read up a littel and have seen some posts saying everything about 351-390 is the same other than the internals but i would like some defenite yes's to that to make sure, if anyone knows the codes to what would fit that would be awesome too. thanks

Any 351M/400 head will fit. The 390 is an entirely different block it's an FE. 351 cleveland heads will fit to, but I don't think you want to spend the money for them. Your local auto recycler should be able to help or any auto parts store or machine shop are also good bets.

BTW, there is NO 400M The M is a designation letter only used on the 351s. Ford made three 351s...... 351w(windsor) 351c (cleveland) and the 351m (modified) The 351c and 351M are in the same engine family. The 351w is by its self. There is a thread in the engine section on these engines.
