I have been looking around and searched all through the list of part numbers here but can't find a complete gasket set anywhere except from Felpro. It's looking like next weekend is gonna work out for us to pull the motor and reseal everything, replace the oil pan, timing cover and HPOP and hopefully enjoy a drip free engine!!!
Anyone know where to get a Ford or International complete gasket set? Is there even such a thing? Felpro makes me a little nervous for some reason.
I know some things I will have to get separate like o rings and stuff but that's ok. If I'm pulling this beast I want to do it right the first time. I'm sick of oil leaks!
I'd like to replace the donut gaskets while it's out too. Who has stock ones? I'm staying away from the Ford dealer.
It's really not much fun. This is my least favorite part of being a mechanic. pulling engines and big truck clutches. My back just can't do it anymore so thank god my son is home from school for a while!!!
I think all he had was the rebuild kit. I need one of those for my other engine but can't afford that right now. I'll ask him again and see. I'll email The other suggestions too. Thanks.
They're not. Kinda surprising too. I've had to loosen them twice now taking the turbo off. I have to do it again this time too to put on that pedestal without the ebpv. That's another leak that's been bugging me. ya think they are ok really?
I'm not sure what to do about all the gaskets on the front cover. I can get all the o rings I need from Bob but not the gaskets. It's quite a few in there. I guess I'll go into the international dealer with a list.
Oh I found why my oil cooler is leaking. A few days ago when it was -4 out it was plain as day. The POS is cracked. It's on the timing cover flange running from the oil port to the rear. I swear I could not find that thing before and I did dye penetrant and magnaflux on it. It's hard to miss hanging upside down with an inspection mirror though I guess.

So what now? replace the oil cooler? take lots of pictures when you pull the motor.
No it's the flange on the bottom of the timing cover that it bolts to. The darn thing closes up tight when warm. Below zero it's like the grand canyon!
I just got my first fill up of B50 a couple hours ago. Most of my fuel system is brand new but we'll see what kind of leaks I get from this. It's pretty cool. The engine got quieter, much more throttle response and smells like french fries. Seriously! Almost instantly too.
Id' stay away from the up pipe gaskets unless they are leaking.
Definitely good advice Tayln, that's how I screwed up my good sealing donuts, I messed with them!!
RR, you lost me on the loosening the up pipe gaskets and tightening them a couple of times because of turbo removal and pedestal install. I never had to touch mine before when doing that. I just got a real dumb idea of putting in the brass donuts from Beans at the same time I put in the D66. Real mistake, if the up pipe gaskets don't leak, leave them alone!!
I don't know of any gasket sets.
You have to go to IH with PN for every gasket you want.
EDIT: I think something like everything on the front cover is a set, I don't recall.
I see nothing wrong with Fel-Pro.
And it's a perfect time to address up-pipes with the motor out. Real easy to work on.
Is your oil pan rusted through, or leaking around flange somewhere?
It's leaking at the flange in one corner, The dipstick is leaking and there is a 6 inch long cut on the back of it that I siliconed up because the Ford dealer put the clutch cover on crooked when they replaced the clutch a few months before I got it. It's just a mess.
I need to replace the pickup tube with the 97 timing cover and I got all of that off my other engine thankfully. I've already got all the parts cleaned and painted and ready to go. Just have to find gaskets now. I'm really hoping to sell some farm equipment so I can do everything I need at the same time. I have a brand new alliant 17 degree pump for a 2000 model. I wanted to get it modded but if I don't sell some stuff it's just going on as is. I think it will be fine for what I want.
Also getting the intercooler and a dp tuner chip. I just mailed him a pcm to reflash and will order the chip in a couple days. I am having trouble making up my mind which chip and which tunes.
My thoughts now are the 40 hp tow, 60 hp tow, not sure which econo tune. We're at 3500 altitude and don't go lower very often. Usually higher.
Anyone got any ideas what I should get?
It;s looking like I'm going to have to keep my injectors in till summer then I can get the stage 1's. Hopefully this won't hurt anything.
For what its worth I got php and really like the tunes, and I liked the price, although I can't compare to anything else as I haven't had any others. I didn't like the 60 econo tune it had, got rid of that, put 60 tow instead and like it much better. I use that and 30? tow for towing our forklift and skidsteer around. I use the 140 for the long trailer cruising.
You can always reburn your chip when you get stage ones, or whenever for that matter, so try what you want and see how it goes. You won't be able to use anything over 80 with the stock injectors anyway.
