First off I'm new to this board, was a member of powerstroke board when I had my F250 4x4 diesel.
I recently bought a 01 F150 single cab 4x2 4.2 68k miles. I drove it a few days then clutch started getting weak letting out towards the floor and hard to go into gear etc. I contacted seller he said clutch kit and slave cylinder replaced 8 months ago and only been driven 4k miles since. I can verify the miles because the inspection sticker is 8 months old and the mileage is on the sticker. In the mornings the truck drives fine then after a few min or miles the clutch acts up again. One person told me its the 8 month old slave cylinder going out, another said it could be air or water in the clutch cylinder line. I'm having someone coming over this evening to look at it.
Anyone else have this problem? I searched the forums for similar problems only to find problems with earlier year models.
Got it checked out last night. It doesn't have air in the line, we checked that 1st. He said the pressure plate isn't allowing the slave cylinder to engage properly. He said someone probably rode the clutch or something to that affect. Those parts were replaced 8 months ago by previous owner. He is going to drop the transmission tonight or tomorrow and fix it.
