Ok so, I have to change my heater core out on my '01 Ranger. I'm wondering about how long it'll take me workin non stop? I obviously know its definately not easy and just wondering if someone out there has done this on there own. Just need a good estimate of time so I can start on this early because I don't have a garage and have to do it outside.
That would depend on your mechanical ability. I would think about 6 to 8 hours for the first time. Take your time, And don't take any shortcuts they can come back and bite you later in the day. The best would be to start early on a saturday so if it takes longer then you have sunday to finish.
I just did mine on a 92 Ranger about six months ago and it took me about an hour or so. The prep such as draining a little ( half gallon) on anti freeze from the radiator in order to pull the heater hoses on the firewall first. I'd put some newspaper or a towel on the flooorboard of the passenger side to catch any spillage of fluids. I'm thinking four screws by a nut driver will pull the panel and you can see the core then. You can lift that up and out. You can put the new one in by doing the opposite and you may have to rotate the two heater inlet hose connectors in order to get it to seat down into the holding area. Put he cover back on and slip the hoses back on ( you can mark them before removal if you want) and tighten up the clamps and refill the drained anti-freeze and run test for leaks. This a much easier exchange than some of the others I've done.

1995 and up you have to pull the dash...not really a job for a novice with time constraints ....."Ford" allocates 6 hours for the job.iI recomend the best product you can purchase.............. on the pre 95's it is simple.......
Well in that case, I'm glad I didn't buy a later model! That is shere stupidity designing something as simple as replacing a heater core and having to pull the dash to do so. The automakers do this intentionally to create labor.
