96 Trans problems
My friend has 96 explorer auto/2wd. The DTC p0761 is set. I know this is for shift solenoid "C" stuck off or malfunction...so...does anyone know where(inside the trans) this solenoid is? Or can direct me to an answer...pics would help...THanks.

HEY!!!! stopp driving it!!!! i just ran into this problem last week. the sol. is located on the side of the valve body inside the trans. pan. unfortunately when mine went out i was at a high rate of speed and had a sudden downshift causing a band to break inside. now im am rebuilding the trans. the sol. can only be baught (as far as i know) from a ford parts dealer @ $65.00. advance auto has a rebuild kit for $150.00- comes with clutch packs and bands and all seals. if you need other parts, go to a specialty shop or ford dealer. to have a repair shop fix it it costs about 1500. if u pull the trans and bring it to them. so if you are a good mechanic and can follow instructions, you might be able to do it yourself. but IF YOU ARE THE LEAST BIT UNSURE, GO TO A SHOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE ARE WELL OVER 100 PARTS IN THIS TRANS, AND THEY HAVE TO BE PUT BACK IN THE EXACT ORDER THEY CAME OUT IN- GOOD LUCK
