Feb Meet???

Since I am a FNG to this chapter...

The last meeting there was some discussion on when/where the next woudl be. My question is this a monthly get to gether or adhoc?

I can work with the Hooter in Waldorf and make some arangements.

There was also soem talk about having it in Annapolis to include those from the eastern shore...

We TRY to have a GTG no sooner than monthly, but we're pretty lucky to be able to have them 4 times a year!!! There hasn't been a lot of interest in the last year or so untill the one last month! It was really nice to see more than 2-3 show up for a GTG. If ANYONE wishes to initiate a GTG, all they have to do is to start a thread saying so. Those interested will chime in, I'm sure.

Usually the chapter member that initiated the GTG contacts the place he wishes to have it and insure there is space for both people and trucks for that time frame.

All that said, feel free to post a time, date, and place.

Hummmm.

In my Goldwing Chapter we do a little more that just drink wings and eat beer.... ( In fact we do not have beer) yet we have a fair turnout every month.

So I joined the MD chapter and now I am looking for what is associated with this unique membership.......
There is a website......
A monthly GTG that happens about 4 thimes a year.....
And.....

Might I suggest something like:

A Show and Shine GTG at a local drive in
Tailgate picnic GTG
Fall Hobo stew....
Rodeo GTG... where the owners compete on a closed course at low speeds very simular to a Big Rig rodeo. Did this for a Jeep club and we had a real blast Might still have the seesaw too.
A GTG at the local Dragstrip for a Truck nationals event.
Poker run?
Garage night at a local dealer
Dyno Day
Charity Run.
etc, etc...
Truck and tractor pull event ( visit not compete)
Being the FNG I am not quite sure what is available or desired or acceptable. Still kinda wrapping my head aroudn what the goal of the chapter is?

Met some good folks at the last event...

Cheers

PS be happy to orginize any of the above if there is interest for the group. it is not that hard.

Dave,
Lets chat when you return to MD. My take is if you want folks to show up you have to give them something to show up for.

Two things i have done in other truck clubs that have worked in the past are:

Tailgate picnic so the family can come along.

And

the truck rodeo. again this is a family or couple thing. If you have never been to one it is fun. Not based on speed or power but skill and control. Best part is there is no risk of damage to the rig.

My question is this something the chapter would be interested in doing??

Jr, Bud?

cheers
Rob.

Hooters in Waldorf can definately work for me, I know them pretty well up there as well. I would love to have a GTG before too long.
