i need help
my truck is a 1998 ford f-150 and the check engine light is on and my garage told me i hade to go to ford to get it turned off but they want 70 dollars to maybe fix it what can i do.

Man for that kind of money I would just spring for a Scan Gauge 2. LOL
Seriously, the other day my check engine light came on, wheeled into autozone, ran inside, borrowed their OBD2 reader, cam back out plugged it in. Read the code, cleared the code and was back on the road in less than 5 minutes. I didn't even get the wife out or the kids out of the back seat.
DO NOT PAY $70.00 to have this done, unless you are made of $$$.
I think you can buy a cheap OBD2 reader for your own tool box for about the same price.

But If you don't fix the problem that made it come on in the first place. It will just come on again.

Did they tell you the number?
The list of codes is right on the Internet!
You need to have it checked again and find out what the code is, right it down this time and look it up.

the code is p1538 i looked it up and it says intake manifold runner stuck open bank 2 what does that mean
