more repairs...

so I just took my truck in to get the dpf replaced yesterday and while it was up in the air, I noticed that the cam sensor is leaking oil all over the side of the block, and also the passenger side dust seal on the front axle had fallen out and was just spinnig around with the axle. I'm starting to get tired of the shop this winter! Apparently though, the mechanic said there is a new metal dust seal out now so apparently this is a common issue....something to look out for.

yeah, all warranty covered too but... just a bunch of small inconveniences lately, batteries, dpf and now these. just had to spend a minute venting and pouting LOL! I'm alittle better now, thanks for listening! LOL! On a more positive note, I got my spartan installed today and it's pretty cool, dpf delete and running the 175 tune, lots of power, and awsome to be able to monitor everything under the sun!

Believe me, I want it bad.
But living in the police state of California is my problem. Go ahead, call me chicken.
The Cal Highway Patrol is VERY bitchy.
Some days I say, screw it I'll jump in and if caught I'll just put it back stock, get it checked off, then put it back. But it gets to be a question of how much pain in the A do you want to deal with.
I had a Saleen Mustang that I kept getting drug into the CHP because I didn't have a front license plate on it. They wanted me to drill through that beautiful front apron and mount it. I told them to go scratch and fabbed up an ugly bracket and got it checked off FOUR TIMES. Which meant I had to disassemble and reassemble every time.
So after careful consideration I will probably end up getting a Banks system and not give the black and whites a reason to pull me over.
I must be getting old.

I think his idea was since the dpf was removed and replaced by the dealer, the attaching bolts and hardware would be extremely easy to remove again, expediting installation of the Spartan and its requisite component parts.

Glad to hear your first impressions are good. I can't believe you showed enough restraint to start with the 175, lol. The first tune I loaded was the 275 and I never looked back, haha. Although the 275 never let me down I've now got 10,000km running the 300 and it's a great tune thus far. Same power and fuel economy and smooth shifting to go with it. Once you're ready to bump up the tune you'll really see what these trucks can do, Enjoy.

sorry to hear about your dilema, i don't think I would want to deal with all that crap either, and if they told me to drill holes in my Saleen, I would tell them to pound salt and write the tickets! That totally sucks!

well, i used that tune because it's the highest tune that will still cycle the egr as per the factory.(don't want it to stick shut) Also I think if I run a higher tune the air filter minder will be set off.(it's almost there now!) And, last but not least I heard the 275 tune is hard shifting.(although I think when the weather turns better I'll see for myself!)
