I noticed that I have something that looks like black soot but its kind of sticky at the same time around some of the boost tubes. Any idea what this stuff is and what could be causing it?
Can't see the photos as I'm asked for a UN and PW to access the site you have them posted.
However, without seeing the photos I'd assume you're seeing some minor seepage of oil through the intercooler boots. If this is the case, it's pretty normal as there is a small amount of oil in the boost tubes from the crankcase vent. The 6.0 vents the crankcase fumes back into the intake just prior to the turbo. These fumes have a small amount oil that collects in the tubes and over time leeches through the boots.
looks pretty typical, especially with the ccv running into the intake right before the turbo.wouldnt hurt to pull the boot off the turbo and peak inside there and look for excessive oil, also pull the intake off and look directly into the turbo and check for excess play in the shaft.bet you find the intake tube that connects to the intake side of the turbo full of oil from the ccv.
