high pro store
then he started to ask me about what pistons I wanted and rods stuff of that nature. I told him that I wanted to run Nos possibly later down the road and I wanted about 9-1 compression this whole time he just looked at me funny. did I say something wrong or did he just not understand me? I wont to run pump gas but want to be able to run Nos latter without a hole new rebuild.
just thought i would share and ask for advise
I have come to find in the last 8 months that the FE and knowledge of it is quite unique. Whoever this person is probably would like to give you good customer service, but it is clear he does not understand FE's (nor do I totally). Most things in this Y-block are so interchangeable it's not funny.
I have a guy rebuilding a 390 for me shortly hear and he does about 20 chevy engines to ever 1 ford engine. He builds race engines for a living. I said to him one day (the first day I met him actually), what do you know about FE engines? He said to me, well let me see, then he went through the list, one engine at a time, from the 332-428. He was tring to convince me to build a 427, but of course I have enough problem with parts for a 390.
He then looked at the parts list I ordered (actually the list was created here on the forum), and he said it seems you have everything you need to get for now, the rest is up to me, I will tell you what to go get when I need it. Three weeks is his turn around on every engine (at the most). He does everthing in house and I mean everything. OK, my response is getting long so I will stop. LEAVE THAT ONE GUY ALONE, THERE MAY BE SOMEONE ELSE IN THE STORE, BUT HE IS NOT THE ONE, IF A PERSON DOESN'T KNOW THEY SHOULD JUST SAY SO, THEN THEY MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING. DOC.
THANKS GUYS FOR THE KNOWLEDGE AS ALWAY YOU KNOW BETTER THAN I
Just don't let them sell you one of those "trailer queen" chrome open air cleaners... Those things are a street engine's worst enemy.
