Driving in 4x4
Will it hurt to run my truck in 4WD at high speed with only the front driveshaft hooked up. I want to remove my rear driveshaft to see if will eliminate a vibration in my driveline. I think my driveshaft may be out of balance. But I have to get up to about 60MPH to see. This is like a one time trial-- I wouldn`t leave it out. Is it safe to try this?

It's fine. The front driveline is just as strong as the rear, so if it's not worn out or damaged, you can drive normally on it. You just have to take it easy in the turns, especially as they get sharper because you have U-joints; not CV joints.
I've driven on the front axle for a week at a time on several occasions, sometimes towing a loaded trailer.
