CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

ok guys i have a question. the check engine light in my 96 4.9 came on today for a few minutes then went off. how do i check the trouble codes on this truck?

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

Unfortunately, the '96 4.9L went OBD-II (and MAF), so you can't use that method. Many parts stores will pull & clear OBD-II codes free now, so I'd check with some nearby.
