Winter tire recommendations?
Truck is a '99(?) extended cab 4x4 with automatic tranny and ESOF (not sure which engine). Buddy's truck. Currently has a set of Bridgestone Duelers (?) on factory alloys (weird though; I couldn't find a match on that wheel fitment page on TRS). He's not happy with how they perform in winter; thinking about getting a set of winter tires on beater rims.
Wondering what brands/types to look for. My wife and I have been pretty happy with the Blizzaks on her one PowerStroke, the Cooper Discoverer STs on the other PSD, and the Blizzaks on my Saturn. He drives mostly in town, so I'm thinking on icy roads, a siped tire like the Blizzak or a Nokian Hock-up-a-loogie would be good.
What about size? Seems like any 15" or 16" 5x114 with a big enough bore should fit, but is there an offset issue / limit? Other than speedometer error, any issues with going up or down 5-6% size-wise?

Why can't the owner just get better All terrains and not worry about two sets of wheels?
My Dueler A/T's have worked great for me. We just had 8 inches of snow and ice and I never had a problem, and I pulled two vehicles out of the snow.
