Coolant

Hey Guys,
New Excursion 6.0L diesel owner here. I have been reading a lot on this forum and I am not sure if that is good or not.....I now think every problem there is I am going to get it. . Just a worrier here. Truck has 85,900 miles on it. It's a 2004 Limited.

So I looked at my coolant reservoir on top. It is over filled way above the max line and I have noticed that there has been a little burping of coolant there. I did not fill it to that and not sure who did that. I think I know what you guys are going to say but wanted to ask. Should I be worried about this? I did have the dieselsite coolant filter installed in December and will replace my filter on it very soon. So I am thinking I will lose some fluid when I change out that filter. I did not get the ball valves for it.

I also installed the Edge Evolution and have been using it only as a gauge to monitor temps and my ECT is not ever been above 184 degrees.

So should I be worried? As a side note...I sent a sample of my oil to Blackstone to have it analyzed and I am sure I will be asking you guys what you think when I get that back.

Thanks for all you have done for me so far.

You can also drain out the excess coolant from the radiator valve into a clean plastic jug. Then if it ever gets low you'll have some premixed to add back.

LOL yeah, mine does that too. I have found that if I just open it a little it won't leak as bad. Drains much slower that way, but for just a gallon or two it only takes about 5 minutes.

I would also suspect that you may have a defective t-stat. You should be running at least 190 to 195 after complete warm up.
